Doctor

  • Robert Hyman , DVM


    Dr. Hyman pursued his Pre-veterinary curriculum at the University of Arizona, completing his Bachelor's in Science in 1974.  He then went on to complete his DVM in the Philippines.  Following completion of his Doctorate Degree he completed a one year clinical rotation at the University of Missouri's College of Veterinary Medicine

    In 1986 he began working at Newbury Park Veterinary Clinic, along with Dr's Simpson and Rich.  In 1991 he became partner/owner with Dr. Rich, after Dr. Simpson began working part time.  In 1997 Dr. Canan joined the team as a partner.  After Dr. Rich decided to retire, late in 2001, Dr's Hyman and Canan decided to move their practice to its current location.

    At the present time Dr. Hyman lives in Ventura, CA with his wife Sally and their son Marc.

    Aside from practicing Veterinary Medicine Dr. Hyman's passions include playing the guitar as well as recording, swimming, and martial arts.

  • Richard T Canan , DVM


    Dr. Canan grew up in the San Fernando Valley.  He then joined the United States Air force as a jet engine mechanic.  After his work there he went to Veterinary school.  He did his undergraduate work at UC Davis.  In 1979 he received his Bachelor in Animal Sciences.  He continued at UC Davis for his Veterinary school, graduating in 1987 with his DVM.

    After graduating UC Davis he went on to work at Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital.  He worked there from 1987-1989.  Following his work there he went on to work at both the Ventura and Thousand Oaks Pet Emergency Clinics from 1988-1992 and was the Chief of Staff at the Thousand Oaks Clinic.  Next he was working in Camarillo at a Veterinary Medical Center.  In 1994 Dr. Canan joined the staff at Newbury Park Veterinary Clinic, becoming a partner in 1997.

    Currently Dr. Canan is still working at Newbury Park Veterinary Clinic.  He and Dr. Hyman are co-owners of the clinic.  Dr. Canan, for the past five years, has also been a regular surgeon for other area veterinary clinics.

    Outside of work Dr. Canan enjoys sailing, hiking, traveling and scuba diving.  He also enjoys spending time snow skiing, rollerblading, bike riding, and spending time at the gym.  Right now he lives in Camarillo with his wife and their son and daughter.  The family also has many pets.  They have cats, dogs, birds, fish, frogs, and invertebrates.

  • Clinton Eichelberger , MRCVS, BVM&S


                Born in Waco, Texas, Dr. Eichelberger moved to London when he was five years old.  He then moved back to the United States and lived in New Jersey for four years while he attended Princeton University.  After he graduated he returned to London and studied sculpture for two years.

                Dr. Eichelberger was drawn to veterinary medicine after working at various Zoos and on conservation projects around the world.  He then attended veterinary school for five years at Edinburgh University in Scotland.  It is then that he became a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS).

                After graduating Dr. Eichelberger completed a one year internship at the Veterinary Medical Surgical Group in Ventura, California.  While there he worked in Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Radiology.  He then worked as an Emergency and Critical Care doctor with the Pet Emergency Clinics in both Ventura and Thousand Oaks for one year before he joined the staff of Newbury Park Veterinary Clinic.

Management

  • Ms. Gayle Cerone


    Gayle has been working in the veterinary field since 1986.  She enjoys helping people and their pets.  She has been working with us as a technician since June 2000 and is now the practice manager.  She helps to keep everything moving smoothly, and keeps our system running efficiently.

  • Mrs. Cara S Cerny


    Cara has been at Newbury Park Veterinary Clinic since 1998 when she was hired on as a caretaker.  After working in that position for one year she was moved up front to be a receptionist.  Since 2003 she has been working as an Office Manager.

Technician

  • Miss Heather De Bono


    Heather is one of our technicians.  She has been with us since 2003.  She is currently going to school to obtain her RN license.

  • Iman Khree-Johnson


    Iman is one of our technicians.  She also helps out up front as a receptionist.  She has been with us since April of 2006 and is currently going to school to become a licensed Veterinary Technician.

  • Cindy Nigh


    Cindy is one of our surgical technicians.  She has been in the field since 1988.  She joined our team in February 2006.  Prior to that she worked with a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon.

  • Martha Scuria


    Martha is one of our technicians.  She joined us in September 2007.  She has been in the veterinary field since 1974.  At home, she has a golden retriever, a  pomeranean, which she rescued in January 2007, and 2 kitties.


  • Sherrie Garrett


    Sherrie is one of our technicians and has been with us since January 2008.  Prior to joining our team she has had 17 years of experience.  During that time she has done things such as working for a mobile exotic practice.  She even spent a summer spaying and neutering 26 tigers at a rescue compound.  Now that she is a member of our team, she is in charge of our Slentrol Weight Loss Program.


Reception

  • Ms. Sandy Martin


    Sandy has been with us since 1996.  She has been our receptionist for many years and currently she is our bookeeper. 

  • Terri Becker


    Terri is one of our receptionists.  She joined us in January of 2007.  Prior to working here her "Lady" was a patient here for 6 and 1/2 years.  She says, "Being here has made me appreciate more what I already knew; our pets and yours get the best compassionate care anywhere!"

  • Mary Canan


    Mary has been in the Veterinary field since about 1972.  She has worked in Veterinary Hospitals as well as in the Pet Emergency Clinics.  Animals continue to be her passion, although she is not currently working full time in the Veterinary field.  She does a wonderful job finding homes for animals in need.

  • Heather Clubb


    Heather is one of our receptionists.  She joined us in September of 2004.  At home she has a kitty named boots and a dog named Lucky.  Right now she is going to school to become a RN.

  • Rosie Diaz


    Rosie is one of our receptionists.  She joined us in May of 2007.  She has been in the Veterinary Field as a receptionist since 2005.  She is very helpful to us being our only employee who is fluent in Spanish.  At home she has 3 dogs at home; Becky, Buffalo, and Mimis.

  • Mrs. Amy Mohelnitzky


    Amy joined us a few years ago.  She is an E.A.T.M. graduate and is a wonderful help to our front staff.  Outside of working at Newbury Park Veterinary Clinic, she is a puppy trainer through the Perfect Puppy Training Academy.  She joined our team in May of 2004.

  • Yolanda Ortiz


    Yolanda is one of our receptionists.  She joined us in September of 2006.  She has two dogs named Nevaeh Anne and Dalylah.

  • Carolyn Sylvester


    Carolyn has been with Newbury Park Veterinary Clinic since 2001.  She started here as a caretaker, and has also worked as a receptionist.  For the past few years she has been working in the back as a technician.  Currently she is working up front.

  • Katie Laubscher


    Katie is one of our animal caretakers.  She joined our team in February of 2007.

  • Maria Arger


    Maria is one of our animal caretakers.  She has been with us since May of 2007.

    Elli is one of our animal caretakers.  She has been with us since April 2008.
